Analysis of key issues in response to the SR-710 North Study

Assignment Purpose:
This paper assignment gives you the opportunity to become personally engaged in an issue pertaining to local governance. Using the first person (I), write an essay answer to the following prompt:
Based on your analysis of key issues, what recommendations do you have to offer in response to the SR 710 North Study Draft EIR/EIS? In your answer, be sure to include how the issues and/or your recommendations are personally relevant to you.
The first step in this assignment is to analyze one or more of the source material indicated below. Following that, you will answer the prompt with an essay (minimum 5-paragraph) that meets the basic requirements shown on the next page. Submission instructions are also on the next page. Finally, these Paper Assignment Instructions will be guide how I review and grade the papers. In particular, you should carefully review the grading rubric on the last page of these instructions

Basic Requirements
? Student work aligns with the assignment purpose described on page 1. The essay shall have an
introductory paragraph with a thesis answering the prompt, a body comprised of several supporting
paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.
? Essay employs objective analysis and subjective analysis as appropriate.
? All paraphrasing and/or use of quotations are properly referenced as described in the Referencing
Instructions in the Instructions Module. This requirement applies to parenthetical references and
reference list (works cited page).
? You must make use of one or more of the source material listed on the first page.
? I discourage you from using additional research. However, if you insist, you must get an exception
from me well in advance of the due date. Unless I give an exception during office consultation, I will
consider any other sources inappropriate for this assignment, which results in a lower grade.
? The paper must be a Microsoft Word document.
> Use regular 12 point fonts (Times New Roman or Arial), 1 margins, and 8 by 11 paper size.
> Do not use a separate title page. For the first page, create a header on the upper left or upper right
corner of the first page. This header must be single space1 and include your name, the class name
and meeting time, my name, name of assignment, and the date.
> Follow the first page header with a double space2 and your essay title. After another double space,
begin typing your essay.
> The essay must be automatically double-spaced. Do not hit enter at the end of each line because
that interferes with my in-text edits or comments. Let your words wrap automatically to reach the
next line. Similarly, your paper must have automatic page numbers. (Insert>>Page Numbers) Plus,
after your concluding paragraph, insert a page break (Insert>>Page Break) to create a separate page
for the Reference List, i.e., Works Cited page. These formatting requirements are necessary because
I sometimes make in-text edits or comments when I read/grade.
? I require college-level discourse. Grammatical/spelling errors, the use of texting language or cursing
result in a reduced grade. The latter could result in removal from class. Proofread your work to
avoid referencing, formatting, grammatical, spelling, or substantive errors. I cannot over-emphasize
that excessive errors, whether technical, in form, or substance, will result in a lower grade, possibly
an F. The same goes for using inappropriate sources. Plagiarism, or other cheating, results in an F.
