The topic is depression.
You will need to imagine that you are the person interviewing the consumer. Now reflect on his/her experience. Identify how this has impacted on your learning in relation to care of someone with mental health issues. Use Johns (1995) Model of structured reflection to critically appraise the event and outline how this has implications for your future learning and professional practice.
Patient
Pt states she has poor sleep patterns, reduced appetite, feeling hopeless and helpless.
Decreased depressive mood. Pt rates mood as 1 in a scale of 1-10.
When asked to share her thoughts she feels like her life is not worth living any more.
Suicidal tendencies and a high risk.

1. Use Johns (1995) model of structured reflection (attached) as a framework for discussion and include:
•    Aesthetics, by clearly identifying factors that have influenced actions;
•    Personal, by justifying actions in terms of values/ethics and what is desirable;
•    Ethics, through reflection on the impact of self and others’ feelings within the experience;
•    Empirics, by critiquing existing knowledge; and
•    Reflexivity and making sense of the experience

2. Relate your discussion to the current literature.

It may make sense for you to describe in your introduction that you are reflecting by placing yourself into the interviewer’s shoes. This way you can use first person language easily.
