The first (1) minute is for you to introduce yourself to your team members. Please answer all of the following questions in your narration. You will include your image in the video for this first part.
Where did you study Nursing for your undergraduate degree?
Where do you work and what is your current title?
What city and state do you currently call home?
What do you plan on doing when you complete this degree?
What do you like to do when you are not working, taking care of your family, or going to school?
You work for a prominent health care think-tank. Your think tank director has asked each of you to research the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The assignment is for you to recommend one fix/improvement that should be considered to make it more effective, fair, etc. He has asked you to summarize your recommendation in a two minute recording (with a PowerPoint handout attached) to his office.
He noted that in addition to reviewing newspaper articles, trade publications, and editorials at both the state and national level; also view any “white papers” that may have been published by various associations and advocacy organizations’ websites. This will be extremely valuable in guiding the development of your argument (including the pros and cons), as well as your personal conclusion about this issue.
He provides the following ground rules:
You cannot expand covered health care benefits. You could decrease health care benefits.
You cannot increase or expand eligibility. You could decrease eligibility.
You must have an estimate of the financial impact of the change and include the source in your narration. There are plenty of articles on the financial impact of changes in ACA.
Your recommendation is to be supported by three on-line sources.
The three on-line sources are to be included on a separate reference slide at the end of your power-point presentation. Do not read the reference slide in your narration.
Your PowerPoint will include a title slide/page (remember to include your name), and 2-3 additional slides.
After the title slide, the next slide will be your identification of the problem, weakness, area needing improvement, or current ambiguity in the ACA.
The remaining one to two slides will be points to reinforce your message on how to fix or improve the ACA.
At the end of your PowerPoint is your reference slide.
You are to be the narrator. The narration for the ACA part of this video needs to be in the third person.
I would strongly suggest that you write out and read your narration to manage the 2 minute time limit and to make sure that your presentation is succinct, relevant, and cover everything you need to make your points.
