SDK

The Construct 2 SDK is a powerful tool for creating cross-platform games. One such platform is HTML5. HTML games have come a long way and have proven to be a robust environment for game development. In this project, you will work on creating a simple game using basic mechanics and follow along Construct’s tutorial.

First, if you don’t have it, download Construct here:

https://www.scirra.com/construct2 (Links to an external site.)

It is already installed on the CoB lab computers.

Next, go to this page:

https://www.scirra.com/tutorials/37/beginners-guide-to-construct-2 (Links to an external site.)

Walk through each step and follow along with the tutorial. The end result will be a game where a single character shoots enemies and scores points.

There is only one difference we will do in this project. Instead of the graphics they provide, use your own graphics.

On page 1 & 2 of the tutorial, notice they have a graphic for the background, “Player”, “Monster”, “Bullet”, and “Explosion”.

Replace these with graphics of your own to change the look and feel of the game. Maybe you’ll throw darts at balloons. Maybe you’ll hit asteroids in space. The choice is yours. Here are some graphic resources to get you started:

To submit your assignment, you will need to click File-> Export Project

Choose HTML5. It will ask to save this game and all of its files on your computer. Continue and save.
