Buddhism
There are many different celebrations and festivals that vary by different countries and or groups. One of the most important festival is the Vesak. This marks the birth, enlightenment, and death of Buddah. During this time the devout Buddhist gather at temples or monasteries before dawn to hear stories about his life. They then make offerings of flowers, candles, and incense. Some celebrate Magha Puja Day as known as Sangha Day. This day represent an event in early Buddha teachings while after giving a sermon to his first disciples at the Deer Park in Sarnath, he went on to preach to the king and more than 1,000 citizens. The Festival of the Tooth in Sri Lanka honoring the Buddha’s tooth relic they paraded through the streets on the back of a richly decorated elephant. In Thailand there is a Festival of Floating Bowls on a full moon night of the 12th lunar month. Text pg 173-175
