Adaptive Equipment Analysis

Purpose:
I. To introduce students to a broad array of adaptive equipment and adapted methods for enhancing occupational performance through compensation in people with a wide range of physical impairments.
II. To increase students’ proficiency in accessing and using resources including textbooks, professional literature, software, and vendor catalogs to increase their familiarity with a range of adaptive equipment and techniques.
Requirements:
This should be a fun and interesting assignment! Be creative!
I. Each student will randomly select a piece of adaptive equipment and will analyze its use.
II. The student should explore the use of the device and possible modification that are appropriate for a range of client issues (e.g., decreased strength, limited PROM, loss of use of one side of the body, impaired sensation, poor coordination, impaired balance, etc.).
III. Students should answer each question regarding the piece of adaptive equipment that they chose (use the Practice Framework as a reference for this assignment). Answer all questions in a paper format of at least two pages in length. Cite all references used in APA format, including the reference list at the end of the paper.
