SOCIETAL MECHANISMS FOR MAINTAINING DRUG USE

The topic of my choice would be about the prevalence of drugs in communities and the connection to society’s role in creating environments for which drug-abusing behavior is maintained. More specifically, my research paper would be to research from a sociological perspective, more specifically a Marxist view utilizing a Conflict Theory approach, the connection between the heightened levels of drug use among populations of people living in “lower class” areas, and the mechanisms instituted by society that make them more susceptible to do so.
