The ASTD.org website held a wealth of information for those interested in the training and development field. One area I found particularly interesting for current information you could use today was the Communities of Practice tab and more importantly the Community Blogs found therein. There you will find short articles offered by professional coaches featuring a variety of topics that I could relate to and draw value from.

One article in particular, found on the Career Development Blog, pointed out the significance of non-academic credentials, certifications, or licenses in adding value to your professional portfolio. These alternatives to an academic degree gave employees ways to develop skills, knowledge, and add worth to their careers which usually translated to higher salaries. A coaching credential would fall into this category, supporting an individuals academic learning with an added bonus.

Other areas of interest included; Global HRD, Gov Learning, Human Capitol, L & D, Learning Executive, Learning Technologies, Sales Enablement, and Workforce Development. Each heading included several illuminating articles full of thought provoking ideas and information.
