PURPOSE
To apply MIS usage in a business organisation and to analyse the roles of information experts.

YZ Screens Sdn. Bhd. is an organisation which owns a chain of movie cinemas in Malaysia and shows both local and foreign movies. YZ Screens also produces some of the local movies for Malaysian market which are shown in their own cinemas as well as other cinemas owned by other companies. YZ Screens had been using a simple information system to manage basic operations such as movie ticket sales and online seat reservation for all the cinemas that it owns. YZ Screens plans to expand their information system usage in Human Resource and Sales/ Marketing related functions. As such, they plan to install a Management Information System (MIS) which can handle functions such as payroll processing, monthly financial report and others.
In order to convince the board of directors, the management of YZ Screens had requested one of their IT managers to prepare a proposal report on how the MIS can be used in functions related to Human Resource and Sales/ Marketing. The management also plans to set up a department headed by this IT manager to handle the MIS once it had been implemented. As the MIS project is still in the beginning phase, the IT manager can only recruit 3 information experts for the department for the time being.
Assume that you are the IT manager who had been assigned to prepare the proposal and head the special department. Among the items needed in the report are:

(a)   Usage of MIS (inclusive of input, process/ methods and output involved)
•   Identification of a function related to Human Resource in YZ Screens and discussion of how MIS can be utilised for the function.
•   Identification of a function related to Sales/ Marketing in YZ Screens and discussion of how MIS can be utilised for the function.

(b) Required Information Experts
• Suggestion of THREE information experts and justification of why each expert is important to this department by relating to the support that they can provide to the MIS in YZ Screens.
