For this assignment, you will interpret an advertisement of your choice (a still ad or brief video) using logicalargumentation.  This will require you to:  implement

Toulmin’s Method of Logic; develop a Main Claim (i.e., a persuasive thesis); use and cite sources to support and illustrate your Main Claim; and address/ answer

counter-arguments.  Assume a skeptical reader.

1.  Choose an advertisement that encourages and promotes the negative values, characteristics, and/ or preferences of the New Media generation.  Write a logical,

persuasive piece to convince your reader that your interpretation is plausible.  Refer to Lam orTurkle to support your main claim and make your argument.

2.  Write a persuasive piece arguing for or against the ideas presented by Hayles about “Generation M.”  Use a piece of advertising to support your claim.

3.  Argue for or against Turkle’s ideas about this generations need for constant contact.  Use a piece of advertisingto help you support your claim.

4.  Choose an advertisement that disproves several of the negative values, characteristics, and/ or preferences of the New Media generation.  You may draw from any of

Unit 1’s reading assignments for this prompt.  Write a logical, persuasive piece to convince your reader that your interpretation is plausible.

Write a logical, persuasive essay supporting your view on the issue raised by the prompt you choose.  You must apply Toulmin’s Method of Logic in the writing of this

essay; therefore, you must raise at least one counter-argument opposing your view and present a rebuttal.
