Presenting Coachee: Time Managment Issues: Has a young daughter, runs own business where she works approx 3 days a week and then helps out with a family retail business. Is also studying a masters at Uni. Time constraint issues…guilit issues at leaving daughter with carer or mothers occasonally (usual trauma of a working mum and her conflict between being a mum and having a career). Loves daughter very very much.

The main assignment in this unit requires you to assume you have conducted five peer coaching sessions of about one hour each between Day 2 and Day 5, and to write two reflective case study reports. The first report is to be handed in on Day 3, and the final report is to be handed in later.

You should assume you have conducted two coaching sessions between Day 2 and Day 3 (a five week period). These sessions should be face-to-face sessions and you should record all sessions on your iPhone or smartphone.

Later You should conduct another at least another two coaching sessions between Day 4 and Day 5 (a four week period). You can hold the final coaching session after Day 5. One of the sessions after Day 3 should be by phone.

Make sure that you DO NOT coach in relation to mental health problems or any therapeutic issues.

You can base the coaching on the “Coach Yourself” program – full instructions are in the book: Grant, A. M., & Greene, J. (2004). Coach Yourself: Make real change in your life (2 ed.). London: Momentum Press.

You should use the I-GROW and RE-GROW models to structure the coaching sessions. Be sure to record each session and to listen to the recordings afterwards before you write you report.

Note: When peer coaching it is imperative to have a break between each coaching session. In the first coaching session, person A coaches person B. In the second coaching session 2 person B coaches person A. Typically, in peer coaching, coaching sessions are held back to back in order to be as time-efficient as possible. This is workable as long as there is at least a 30 minutes break between session to allow both people to shift mindset and to prepare for their new role.

The first report is to be a brief reflection on your coaching skills (1500 words). You should listen to the recordings, and write a report focusing on your skills as a coach. Relate the coaching sessions to the theories and techniques and the ICF competencies taught in this Unit of Study. Also be sure to make links to various psychological theories including goal theory. A key part of this assignment is to identify what you are good at doing and what areas you need to develop. You should write about any difficulties you had in the coaching sessions as a coach, identify any skills deficits, and then develop some strategies to develop those skills and overcome any difficulties, so that you are better equipped for the following coaching sessions. You can use the following as a basis of a template for the report. Please note that you should adapt and add other aspects to the report as you see fit. This is only meant to act as a guide for writing the report
