Write an essay in which you provide your own analysis of one particular subculture, one to which you may or may not belong. Some

possible subcultures you might examine: “Boomerang Kids” (young adults who have returned home to live with their parents),

skateboarders, mall rats, gamers, clubbers, nursing home residents, drug users/addicts, Burning Man or Outside Lands participants,

or girls or boys of a particular age. You should base your analysis of the group on your own first hand observations and on at

least three printed works, at least one of which should be from an academic/scholarly source. As part of your evidence you will

need to provide specific examples of specific members of the group. As Orlean does, you should emphasize your own observations of

or interviews with representative members of the group.Your analysis should lead to a greater understanding of the group. You

should not simply take the group at its word, accepting without question, for instance, its mission statement or professed set of

beliefs. Though you will want to consider those things, you should look at the underlying (often unspoken) values and

attitudes.However you define your topic, you will need to be VERY specific in providing evidence (often in the form of examples) to

support your analysis. Follow MLA format, including a Works Cited page and parenthetical citations.As always, your essay will be
