Karl Marx
The first paragraph(s) of your psychobiography will be describe who this figure is and why he/she/they are a notable figure to
write about. The body of the assignment will detail their life and you will analyze those facts as a potential psychologist. The
goal of this assignment is to understand historically significant individuals, such as artists or political leaders, through the
application of psychological theory and published research. Your textbook and empirical journal articles (at least 3) will also be
REQUIRED sources to cite (for psychological theory).
You can approach the assignments from many different themes. For example, you can use any combination of the following
perspectives: personality trait, psychodynamic, psychosocial, biological, humanistic, cognitive, behavioral and social/cultural to
examine the subject. This is NOT just a biography (life story of events) of the person, but an analysis of unique
personality/behavior through the use of psychological theories and research. Having said that, you will be using biographical
information, but your goal is to explain your figure’s personality and life by analyzing key events in their life based on
psychological perspectives. You may also choose to write your psychobiography chronologically (e.g. Erikson’s, Piaget’s, or Freud’s
stage theories).
