You are required to explore the extent of innovation from the communication of knowledge within social media systems, i.e.
1) (70%) A critical REVIEW of the following article (max 2500 words excluding references);
Singh, M, Dwivedi Y, Hackney R A & Peszynski K (2013) Innovation in Communication: an actor network analysis of social websites, HICSS2013
2) (30%) Formulate a short LITERATURE REVIEW to position the paper in the wider context of ‘innovation’ and the opportunities for organisations to exploit Social Media in this respect.
It is expected that an in-depth analysis is undertaken to determine the nature and extent of the issues and processes reported in the paper(s) with specific reference to the noted further research on the potential value of Social Media to exploit knowledge.
You may structure your report to include any relevant tables or diagrams with a suggested format as: nature of knowledge and how it may be managed, contextual analysis of social network provider (as identified within the article) and the issues relating to the exploitation of innovation – your review should reflect:
• Ability to identify diverse and high quality sources of information
• Demonstration of clear understanding and synthesise of the available information in order to gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the topic
• Ability to discuss complex information clearly and concisely, and to construct coherent and logical arguments.
• Ability to present your findings in a professional and well-structured report format, including effective use of figures, tables, appendices and referencing (Harvard Style is required).
