Take-Home Final Examination

This is a take-home final exam, which will count for 25 percent of your final grade in this class. The exam consists of two questions, each carries 50 points.
1. Please read the attached article “Community Posthospital Follow-up Services” by Ann Solberg, published in Evaluation Review. Based on the article, identify and briefly explain the following:
1.1. Study’s research question/s;
1.2. Causal hypothesis/hypotheses tested;
1.3. Research design;
1.4. Sample size and sampling technique;
1.5. Data and data collection method;
1.6. Variables and their measurement:
– What is/are the dependent variable/s?
– What is/are the independent variable/s?
– What are the control variables?
1.7. Discuss the major findings of the study. Do they support the study hypothesis/ses?
1.8. Discuss the validity of the study:
– Are there any threats to internal validity of the study?
– Are there any threats to external validity of the study?
1.9. Make a recommendation on how the study might be improved.
2. A municipal government is about to put into place a new policy to encourage the use of mass transit by subsidizing additional buses and bus routes. The belief is that these investments will result in less time lost to commuting. Your job as a researcher is to design a study that will assess the effectiveness of these policies after they take effect. (Hint: follow the sub-questions in question 1 to design your study).
