Mission and Action Plan
Identify a mission statement and action plan for your career. Your mission statement should be clear and concise. The statement should be one sentence filled with
action verbs and should be easy to recite.
It should have the following elements:

? Identify core values (example: creativity)
? Identify contributions that you could make (example: problem-solve, innovate)
List 3 action verbs and then write a sentence using these words. For example, your three words could be: lead, demonstrate and innovate. Your mission statement could
then be “My mission is to lead by example and demonstrate how innovation and problem-solving in product marketing in a high-tech environment can lead to success in
profitability and revenue generation for my organization.”

Mission Statement:
My personal career mission is to screen and evaluate business opportunities in the real estate and redevelop inferior projects in top locations to high-end finishing

Action Plan:
The action plan is an extension of your mission statement. It tells everyone where you want to go in your career and what you want to become.

? The action plan should include short term and longer term goals.

When answering competency questions in an interview or on an application form use the STAR approach to articulate your example.
Situation- How, when, where, with whom?
Task- Describe the situation or the task you were faced with.
Action – What action did YOU take?
Result – What results did you achieve/conclusions did you reach/what did you learn from the experience?
Using the STAR approach answer the following two competency questions:
1) Give me an example of when you have worked within a team to achieve a positive outcome?
2) Tell me about a time when you have solved a complex problem?
Interests, Strengths and Values
Think about your workplace values, competencies and interests; these can influence the types of job roles that would be ideally suited to you. Provide at least 5
examples of each one and think about job roles that may relate in the intersecting area.
Market Research
After gaining a true understanding for what you are looking for in your career, it is important to begin researching opportunities that are in line with those
interests and identifying the best possible career matches for you. This will help you to develop a more targeted and effective job search strategy.
? Online Career Research. Utilize online resources to begin looking deeper into the types of careers that center around your interests and skills.
? Informational Interviews. Begin identifying professionals serving in roles of interest to you. Schedule conversations to learn more about the nature of their

? Employer Research. Gather information about organizations that offer the types of opportunities you are looking for. Learn more about companies of interest
through informal networking conversations.
