Journaling provides a valuable tool for recording, reflecting on, and reviewing your learning. This approach provides an opportunity for you to “connect the dots” and observe the relationships between and among activities, interactions, and outcomes.
Unlike a personal journal of thoughts and feelings, this Leadership Journal is a record of your activities, assessments, and learning related to this academic experience.
Journal entries should include a record of the number of hours spent with your nurse leader each week.
Write a journal entry of 750-1,500 words on the subject of purpose, including the following:
1. Provide observations and thoughts on the activities in Weeks 5-6.
2. Describe how your nurse leader’s leadership style affects the people the nurse leads. Do staff members express feelings of support and helpfulness? Are there examples of leading rather than dictating? Did the leader say or do things designed to “build up” staff or were there missed opportunities?
3. Reflect on at least two things you learned from the “Issue of Rule” video
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the directions in the Student Suc Textbook

I spent a total of 12 hours in week 5 and 14 hours in week 6 with my nurse leader.
Some activities in weeks 5 &6 included-:
1. Meeting with managers and directors in multiple meetings to review weekly patient satisfaction scores. Some medical surgical units have raised their scores while others still struggle. The Emergency department has slipped slightly in their scores noting that the wait time between the entrance into the emergency department and the time seen by an MD has increasedIt was discussed the wound care has decreased in the patient satisfaction scores which the director reported it is due to the nature of the visit and low compliance of patients willing to fill out the patient satisfaction survey.
2. I was also invited as a guest to observe a “management retreat” for 4 hours which was held out of the hospital. This appeared a little awkward for the management team since a new Chief Operating Officer was present and it appeared there was a lot of hesitation of the leaders since he has only been with the institution for 2 months and the team does not know him. This is a also a comment I had heard during a break.
3.
4. The managers have been challenged to provide Patient Satisfaction Action Plans for all the areas they are responsible for.
My nurse leader is a servant leader. During a staff meeting she was encouraging her staff to grow as a nurse and in their professional career.
