ABSCISSIN (ABSCISSIC ACID – ABA)

(i) Abscissic Acid is also called Abscissin and Abbreviated as ABA.
(ii) ABA is chiefly concerned with the phenomenon of leaf fall and fruit fall.
(iii) ABA controls the activities of growth promoting hormones by causing the antagonistic effect on them.
(iv) Auxins prevent leaf fall while ABA induces that process.
(v) Gibberellin removes the dormancy of seeds and buds while ABA induces such dormancy
