Xylem

Xylem is concerned with the conduction of water and dissolved mineral salts. Most of the cells of Xylem have their walls lignified and hence provide mechanical strength. The components of Xylem include
(i) Tracheids
(ii) Tracheae
(iii) Xylem parenchyma
(iv) Xylem Sclerenchyma (Wood fibers)
