Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) for Business
Many recent disaster have driven home the need for business and private industry to join government in Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) to ensure they can continue or resume operations following a disaster.
1. Go to the following web site and review the actions that FEMA recommends businesses take to enhance their chances of recovery after a disaster.

2. Then review the attached short Washington Post article from August 15, 2007 that discusses how some business changed their views on COOP after the devastating losses caused by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.

Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
This week’s assignment included reading a brief description of the HSEEP. Exercise programs have been around for a long time. They help us evaluate our capabilities in relation to our plans and procedures.

Also, module three reading assignment this week addressed four types of exercises. They are, from easiest to most intense:
1. Table Top exercises
2. Functional exercises
3. Partial scale exercises
4. Full Scale exercises
