Review Assignment Canadian Art History

Write a review of one artwork or work of architecture from Canada. This an actual artwork named: In the Shadow of the Tree. (by Helen McNicoll, 1910 It is oil canvas, 100.4 *82.6cm. Musee national des beaux-arts du Quebec). The review will include four parts:
1. *Description.
The physical attributes of the work, such as dimensions, medium, date etc. It will also include a basic description of the subject matter seen in the work.

2. *Analysis.
In analysis you discuss how the elements of the artwork interact with each other, such as the relationship between characters or parts, how colours operate, and how the formal material of the artwork has been used.

3. *Interpretation.
What do you see as the intent of the artist or architect in their work, and how does this affect the viewer? This may involve what you see as the motivations of the artist, and the historical and cultural context in which they worked.

4. *Evaluation.
How successful do you feel the artist or architect has been in accomplishing their goals? Does the work connect with the viewer? How?
