Requirements: Write a 4-6 page paper. The paper should be typed and double-spaced. Your paper should have 12-point font, Times New Roman, and l-inch margins on all sides. This paper should answer the following question:

(1) The Whiskey Rebellion (1791-1794) was a dramatic event in early American history that nearly destroyed the union of the country. What caused the Whiskey Rebellion to happen? What occurred during the event? How did that event get resolved before catastrophe occurred? Be very specific and detailed with each response. Is there any particular person or persons who stood out as heroes in resolving that event? How? (Note: the italics question is your opinion based on your research about this event. Make certain that you keep your response in third person however.)

(2) The Hartford Convention (1814-1815) was a bizarre chapter in early American history where some NewEnglanddelegatesproposedasecessionoftheentireNewEnglandregionfromtheUnitedStates. Whatledup to the Hartford Convention in which several New Englanders were calling for secession? What was happening politically in the country that had fed up a number of influential New Englanders? Be specific about the changing politics of the time. What happened at the convention? Who were the key players involved in the debates at the convention? Is there any particular person or persons who stood out as heroes in resolving that event? How? (Note: the italics question is your opinion based on your research about this event Make certain that you keep your response in third person however.)

(3) Henry Clay. Daniel Webster, and John Calhoun were three of America’s greatest statesmen. Together, they were labeled the”Great Triumvirate.” All three men played a vitally important role in the moment umthe nation underwent from the 1820 Missouri Crisis to the 1850 Compromise in the sectionalism that threatened to tear the nation in two(North and South). What were some of the achievements these men were responsible for in the age of rising sectionalism? Some achievements helped the crisis, others delayed the crisis. Be specific with each one you bring up. Of the three men,which one bears them ostresponsibility for the end result of this rising sectionalism (Civil War)? 1-f!hy? (Note: all three men died before the Civil War started. However, that italics question is your opinion as to which of the three men bears the brunt of the responsibility and why.)

You are free to use either books or journal articles as sources; however, no internet sources are allowed for this paper unless you are citing a journal article from www.jstor.org. Also, you cannot use the textbook as a source either. At the very end of your 4-6 page paper, insert a bibliography to indicate the sources you used. The bibliography does NOT count towards the 4-6 page requirement for the paper. If you are borrowing a thought or reference from a source in the body of your paper,you need to include a citation. For this paper, you may use parenthetical citation (Author’s name, Title, page number).

– Bibliographic citation format for a book with more than one author:
Author’s last name, Author’s first name and Author #2 first name Author #2 last name. [proceed

as normal for a book citation].

Example:

Format: You MUST include a title page at the beginning, which should have your name, a title for your paper, and your class and section number. As mentioned above, you MUST include a bibliography at the end o f your 4-6 page paper. Y our title page and bibliography do NOT count to the 4-6 page requirement for your paper. Watch your spelling and grammar. Do NOT include contractions [i.e. don’t, can’t, wasn’t, etc.]. Do NOT use first person [i.e. “f’, “me”, “us”, “we”, “myself’, etc.].
