3 to 5 pages long:
See ‘The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail’ or any other published play or screenplay for help formatting a dramatic scene.
Original
You may not adapt a scene or characters from another author’s work.
You may adapt an event from your own life, write about historical or mythological events or people, or make up your own story.
Complete in itself
Your audience must be able to understand what is happening from the dialog alone. Remember that when a play is performed, the audience does not see the stage directions. The story is told through the words and actions of the characters.
Though your scene may be part of a larger plot, you need to give enough information for your audience to tell what happened previously.
