Why does the Chinese government at the start of the twenty-first century refuse to give its people democratic rights despite encouraging private enterprise in industry, commerce and agriculture and how do you see this situation developing in the next few years?

China has, for most of its history been a communist country. Communism is where all people are treated equal and therefore there are no classes in society. In an ideal communist state everyone contributes to the state and then everything that has been taken in is handed out equally. There is no private enterprise, everything is owned by the state….(short extract)
