How is the presentation of self connected with thoughts, feelings and behaviour?

Self- presentational behaviour is not exclusively focused on the social and public side, but also on the internal and private side.  How people think about themselves influences how they present themselves too. This refers to the self -concept. Self- concept refers to the idea of who a person this he or she is. This also includes the persons attributes (Baumeister 1999). Self- concept is formed by interactions with others and their reactions. One main explanation of how self concepts are formed is by the idea of the looking idea self. This idea argues that how one sees himself is related to how others see him (Gecas and Schwalbe 1983). For example, if a person is constantly praised by others by being called intelligent and talented then that person may think of himself as having high intellectual abilities.
