Explain the principles of regulation for professional practice with in the Nursing and midwifery profession and the field of physiotherapy.

Each area within the UK heath service is licenced, governed and monitored by their own representing body, however many codes and guidelines are similar or overlap in setting a standard of care. For Nurses and Midwives they are ruled by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Whereas Physiotherapists are governed by the chartered society of Physiotherapist, this essay will compare and contrast all aspects of both bodies expectations of the professions. The reason for these associations is to set guidelines for practice, deal with misconduct , ensure that there is good continuation of professional development to ensure public and professionals safety ensuring all care is evidence based through use of records, notes and clear accurate and efficient record keeping.
