Sleep is a necessary activity for sustaining life. Multitudes of researches knowledgeable in sleep theories have investigated the consequence of lacking adequate sleep, such as poorer health and impaired brain agility (Kleitman, 1963; Sabanayagam and Shankar, 2010). The title of this literature review is sleep deprivation in hospitalized patients. This topic shall be examined by conducting a literature review, which is a critical appraisal of current and published works (Aveyard, 2010). This literature review will examine the body of evidence gathered from the search from various databases and thereafter, common themes will be identified. This evidence will be analyzed in order to establish best evidence based practice for sleep deprivation.
