Discuss how social and cultural differences can have an impact on the lives of children and young people.

This essay is going to be discussing differences in childhood. Some of these differences can result from culturally views of boys and girls, whether or not the country in which the children live in have ratified the UNCRC and adults views on children. Other areas that this essay will be discussing are the effects of the three parenting styles and the influences of race upon the views of children.

Jane Ribbens has shown that romantic and puritan ideas of children are still prevalent with parents in her (1994) study. The supporting data were the mother who claimed that it is important to respect and protect childhood. In contrast another mother was concerned about the effects of letting children have control.
