Throughout this assignment, I will give a broad exploration on austerity, which will show in the influence of austerity on social care provision for children and families in the UK. There will be distinct opinions and demonstrations from many areas of study, which will allow me to critically compare and contrast, and illustrate similarities and dissimilarities with respect to the influence of austerity measures.

Due to the recession, social care hit major austerity difficulty. Social care alone plays a huge part in care in the UK, but stands along side austerity. There is no simple definition of social care. However, it covers a wide range of services provided by local authorities and the independent sector to elderly people either in their own homes or in a care home.
