Summary of Chris Mullens (2013) article: Cavendish: what is the prospect of genuine change?

Chris Mullen, a former Director of nursing services, wrote an article in response to the Cavendish report (2013) which I will now summarise. It focuses on section 8: leadership, supervision and support, and aims to see whether the findings of the Cavendish report (2013) ring true with her own work experiences. The report highlights positives mainly good teamwork and transparency. Mullen does however state there has been little change, and, the report is a repetition of past findings and recommendations (Mullen, 2013a).

Mullen cites (Berwick, 2013:14a) as a balanced report, which indicates a complete change is required within the NHS, with regards to developing a culture of continual advancement and improvement in the areas of Learning and patient care from the top to the bottom of the NHS.
