It is important to decide whether or not a person is a carer as it matters for the carer if they need support or financial help and it matters to the budget holders by planning a support service. It is important social services know about the person you are caring for, as a carer you are entitled to a carers assessment, which looks at your needs and how you as a carer can be supportive. To count as a carer you must meet the governments standards. My chosen person is a 27 year old friend called John who lives with his 54 year old mother, Patt.
