Material things influence our lives by affecting our environments our relationships and the general order of things. Different social groups participate in different activities and the places where they participate in these specific activities can have an influence on how appealing or off putting it can appear to other groups of people. The way in which they are perceived by outsiders can be significantly different to those on the inside.

From the module materials I have studied, I have established how material things can favour and centre on certain social groups and isolate others.
