Cezannes Bathers (plate 1.3.4) c1874-5 and Correggios Leda with the Swan (plate 1.3.8) c1532 are both nudes of female bathers made using the medium of oil. Cezannes painting feels more modern as it is not set in a classical setting like Correggios Leda which is a depiction of a story in Greek mythology and done in a traditional style.  In both paintings the figures are modelled in fairly statuesque poses but while Correggios figures have very emotive facial expressions, Cezanne seems not to use emotion which is a trait of modern art, in fact his figures hardly have features let alone expressions on their faces.
