The conscious state, as Chalmers (1998) may put it; is a state of being in which the individual has full awareness of their mind, thoughts, mental activities and in some occasional cases, physical actions. This simplistic definition may be enough to fill one’s plate of the ideas about consciousness; however, many different psychologists have opposing viewpoints about the “definitions” of the conscious states.
Throughout this paper, we shall analyse how different psychologists define the conscious state in their individual ways depending on the psychological perspective they each follow. Alongside this, this paper will explore the ways in which the conscious state can be measured by different psychologists respective of the approaches they follow in Psychology.
