+1 862 207 3288 This literature review will be exploring the key aspects of safeguarding legislation relating to the delivery of child protection. Firstly it will examine the history of child abuse and how abuse has been constructed and influenced by historical, social, and cultural change. Additionally it will be discussing key issues in safeguarding children and scrutinizing recent child protection cases, short-comings and recommendations. The main statutory provisions which will be discussed and considered in this literature review are the Children Act 1989, 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Education Act 1996, Housing Act 1996, Protection of Children Act 1999, Education Act 2002, Housing Act 2004 and Children Act 2004. The current legislation will be explored as well as the Welsh perspectives relating to safeguarding children and exploring the Common Assessment Framework.
