In this essay I will examine the meaning what it is to be disabled, demonstrate the different environments for people with disabilities and how these environments are promoting or stopping individuals independence. Showing how suitable environments make a difference to people looking at both the positive and negative aspects, giving examples from ordinary housing to a hospital setting. Looking at legislations and how Home Improvement Agencies advise on adaptions and improvements to overcome barriers. I hope to show how the physical environment can influence the lives of both the Carer and the person being cared for.
