This paper critically assesses New Labours approach to social security policy and the Governments overall agenda of ending world poverty. The first part of this paper will look briefly at the previous governments approaches towards this policy area up until Labours return to power in 1997. The second part will look at what reforms have taken place and the direction in which the social security policy is moving. The final part of the paper will look at the governments overall agenda of ending child poverty.
