Childrens order (NI) 1995

Childcare services have duties to protect children who they look after. All staff have to be registered with social services. They must work in partnership with parents and discuss childrens needs. They have to look at the childs wishes, feelings, physical, emotional and educational needs, the childs age, sex, background and culture.

Safeguarding of Vulnerable groups (NI) order 2007

This legislation aims to prevent unsuitable people to working with children by vetting them. The supervisor of the setting has to make sure that employees are vetted. It is a criminal offence to work or apply to work with children or vulnerable adults. The setting has to observe any changes in circumstances and any signs and symptoms that may affect the child.
