The Queens Royal Lancers (QRL) is located in Catterick North Yorkshire. The basis of QRL function reflects recommendations made in 1901 by Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) D Hughes, following the Monkswell report, commissioned in 1895. Any recommendations relating to cultural changes therefore may require careful consideration. Tradition and history form an essential backdrop to any military organisation.
This core function can be translated into the following terms: Servicemen and women become the input and on completion of rehabilitative training provided by the staff they become the output, as illustrated in the diagram in figure 1 below.
