Paper instructions:
Question: In a major foreign policy speech in May of last year, President Obama declared that he would direct an effort to realign US counterterrorism policy, and noted specifically that this would include “curtail[ing] the use of drones” in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. Nevertheless, drone strikes have continued unabated. Examine the history and contemporary use of drones in warfare and answer the following question: Should the use of drones be continued, or are there practical, moral, ethical, and possibly legal issues associated with this program, that will ultimately show that the use of drones as part of the US foreign / national security policy has been a mistake?

6. Outside DPE – are there other authors that you have examined that have a unique and / or important perspective on this question? They can of course, come from any theoretical perspective.
III. Conclusion – Based on the DPE you have gathered, whether you believe the use of drones will be effective in fighting the GWOT, and how the long-term effects of using such a policy will affect the United States positively or negatively. Alternative solutions? (Be bold! Let your inner idealist loose here if you wish!).
