Assessment Details
1. Case study report.
Choose a British plc company which has been floated on the Stock Exchange andmonitor the share prices of this company for 6 weeks. The assessment will be an individual case study report of approximately 1250 words describing and explaining the share price movements during the period in question. The report should include graphs.
• Monitoring should begin as early as possible in TB2 in order to gain an overview of the share price movements.
• You will also need to look briefly at the share prices for approximately the preceding 6 months in order to summarise the company’s recent performance and to give the context for your monitoring.
• You should briefly compare your chosen company with the overall FTSE share price movement for the same period, and with other companies in the same sector.
• You need to research and consider reasons for share price changes. These can range from local events such as bad weather or a train crash, for example, to government announcements that affect the sector, or global events such as war.
• The report should include an introduction, a conclusion and a bibliography (APA referencing to be followed). The main body should include:
1. A short description of the chosen company and some description of its recent performance, with in-text referencing, to set the context for the monitoring period.
2. A record of what happened to its shares in the monitored period.
3. An analysis of the reasons for the share price movements.
A Possible Structure:
• Introduction (150 words max.)
• Company background and background to the 6 week monitoring period (200 words max.)
• Description of share price movement (450 words max.)
• Reasons for share price movement (550 word max.)
• Conclusion (100 words max.)
• Bibliography (APA)
Second Attempt Assessment
Students are required to submit a case study report and to follow the instructions for Assessment 3, but to focus on a different FTSE 100 company from the original submission. This should be submitted to 1.13 in the CAP period along with the original submission.
