Prepare an objective, informative, essay-style report that discusses some of the pro and con facts you have gathered, so far, regarding your approved research topic. Remember that a “fact” is an established truth about a situation, not an opinion or hypothesis (theory). So, a “fact” is accepted as true and has no reasonable opponents. Do not create an argument in this report; instead, only discuss what experts in your research field are saying about the related pro and con issues. Draw an informative, objective conclusion based solely on the pro and con information you cited in your report. Omit your personal opinions, personal experiences, etc. If your report does not lend itself to pro and con issues, i.e., rape or child molestation, you may discuss pro and con methods of resolving issues, as explained in your expert sources.

Instructions:
Development
Introduction: Begin your essay by introducing your readers to your research topic. You may want to include background information, definitions, explanations, and other types of information to help readers understand the nature of your research. End your Introduction paragraph with a thesis sentence that objectively sums up the main point of your report.
Body: Present your source facts in your own words, i.e., interpret them using paraphrases and/or summaries, rather than quoting them. Use formal paragraphs with a minimum of 3 sentences in each paragraph. Do *not* present a bulleted list of items, as listed items are solitary pieces of information and fail to make connections between ideas. Instead, use paragraph format, only. Cite all source information in each paragraph with an MLA-style parenthetical reference (in-text citation); each paragraph can have more than one reference, if it contains information from multiple sources.
Conclusion: Your Conclusion paragraph should highlight some of the important points you discussed in your Body paragraphs, to help readers remember the most important issues. Restate your paper’s main idea objectively, take no side on any of the issues, and present no new information in a Conclusion paragraph. The final sentence(s) of your Conclusion should bring closure to your report.
Sources: Use only 3 to 4 professional, published, and current sources, no more, no less, published in the last 5 years. Omit information from an expert interview that you may have conducted, though you will be able to use information from one expert interview in your final Research Project (optional). Reference materials such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, and non-peer-reviewed Web sites, such as Wiki sites, answer sites, and other sites that gather and condense information from other sources, are not considered professional sources, so do not use them. For more reminders about evaluating your sources for credibility, refer to related course materials in our previous modules.
Citations: Include MLA-style parenthetical references (in-text citations) in your paragraphs to cite source ideas. Include an MLA Works Cited page (your bibliography page) as the last page of your report, and include the complete URL for each online article. Both types of citations are mandatory to help you credit your sources and to avoid plagiarism.
MLA Research Style: Follow the “Student Report Model with Citations” [attached below] sample report regarding MLA format, style, and content for this formal essay, and follow the citation examples for MLA-style parenthetical references (in-text citations) and bibliographic citations. Only the MLA research style will be eligible for course credit.
Citation Assistance: Citation Assistance: You are advised to follow the MLA citation guidelines presented in this course, as they have been approved for accuracy. If you use a citation machine or template for additional assistance, be sure to compare outside citation tools to the MLA guidelines presented in this course for accuracy; citation machines and templates often contain many serious errors and can be unreliable as stand-alone citation guidelines. Also, do *not* copy and paste directly from a citation tool. Instead, type your citations in place manually, in all formal reports for this course.
Person: Use only 3rd-person pronouns, and avoid 1st person and 2nd person.
Quotations: Use no direct quotations; instead, paraphrase all source ideas, i.e., put them in your own words and, then, cite them with parenthetical references and corresponding bibliographic citations.
Format
Your paper should be 2-3 pages (no more/no less), not including the Works Cited page.
