Your Stages of Life (Grandparent) Interview— The minimum for the paper for a passing grade is 5 typed double-spaced pages but somewhere around 7 pages is encouraged if you want and A or B. Font should be no larger than 12pt and margins should be no wider than 1 1/2 inch.
The goal of this project is to connect you with someone that is in the last stage of life. Ideally that is someone at least 70 years old.
The idea is that they are in late adulthood which means they have already passed through the other stages. Your goal is to interview them and get them to tell you what it was like as they passed through those other stages. Most of the time they will talk more about when they were kids or young and that is great because it is very interesting.
Some Possible (but not required) questions to get them started is: (1) How have things changed since you were a child? (2) what kind of games did you play as a child (3) what type of discipline did your parents use? Did you use with your children? Do your children use with their children? (3) In what year were you born? (4). Do you know of any important historical events that occurred at the time of your birth? If so, list a few of them. (5) What important events do you remember as having affected you and your classmates during your school years (for example, assassinations, space exploration, political upheavals or wars, natural disasters)? (6) Did people typically finish High School when you were growing up? Why? Why not? (7) Did you go to college? Did you know very many people that went to college? (8) did you live with your parents after you finished school? etc….most of the time once you get them started talking they will share some really cool stories. Obviously these 8 questions are not going to be enough but you can add the things you are interested in to this list.
