Content: For this paper, you will review this research articles attach with this document. You should structure your paper as follows:
• Introductory Paragraph: In the first paragraph, briefly describe the objectives of the article. What is the overall topic? What is the research question the paper aims to answer? Provide background information to explain why the authors felt that this was an important topic to study. Remember to include an in-text citation to the article in this paragraph
• Summary of Methods: you should describe the study and how it was done.
o What type of study was it (e.g., cohort study, randomized controlled trial)?
o What specific kinds of data did the authors use to answer their research questions (e.g., Body Mass Index, recall of advertisements)?
o How were these data collected (e.g., survey, clinical exam)?
o Describe the characteristics of the sample. How many people participated in the study and what were their characteristics (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender)? How were participants recruited for the study? Were participants targeted for participation because they had certain characteristics (e.g., they were current smokers)?
o In a very basic way, describe how the data were analyzed. For example, “The researchers examined whether the smoking rate in the intervention group went down after exposure to the intervention.”
• Results: you should provide a brief summary of the study’s results.
o What were the major findings? What were the answers to the research questions the authors posed? What did the authors conclude?
o What were the study’s major strengths and limitations? Be sure that you use evidence or logic from the article, and other readings, not personal preference or opinion – to support your evaluation.
• Discussion: Wrap up your paper by discussing the implications for public health of the work you reviewed. Does the study support current practice, argue for a new approach, suggest that we should shift priorities or resources? After reading this study, what would you recommend to fellow public health practitioners?
