INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY AND POLICY

Critical infrastructure industries face an enormous challenge of rising complexity. Although the advances in technology have increased the operation capabilities, it has also resulted in growing interdependent and interconnected delivery structures of essential services. The landscape that threatens the assets of critical infrastructure keeps on expanding, and evolving. The proposal seeks to establish the possible causes of action for provision of critical infrastructure.
Research Questions
1. What is the source of threat to the delivery of critical infrastructure products and services?
2. What causes of action can be put in place to improve the critical infrastructure security?
The primary sources of concern for the government and the providers of the critical infrastructure services and products include the national disasters, industrial accidents, acts of terrorism, cyber incidents, pandemics, sabotage and criminal acts that target the critical infrastructure (Radvanovsky, 2013).
There are essential realities that should be addressed to improve critical infrastructure resilience and security. The existing structures, policies, regulations and practices that have been operational in the past may now prove to be some of the unforeseen obstacles to effectively improving security and resilience in the way the country needs. The world where the critical infrastructure is operating has grown more complex, and the dependencies go unrecognized. New strategies are required to be utilized in both the private sector and the government. They should work together to raise action and act on acceptance of higher risks. For effective action to be attained there has to be coordination and collaboration among the government and all the sectors.
Conclusion
Research and development are often viewed are oriented technologically. However, to address these threats, one must deal with issues beyond the technological methods in the national’s analysis and development agenda. To create and motivate consensus across the sectors of infrastructure, analytical tools must be utilized to make an observable systematic difference. However, tools alone cannot make a significant difference. To advance the security program to the next level, there has to be the expansion of human and dimensions of incentives, motivation and necessary approaches to the effective system of learning, applying and collaborating.
