Music essay
Using four musical terms (CAPITALIZED): INSTRUMENT, RHYTHM, SOUND, DURATION, and find at least one similarity and one difference between any Western music piece of your choice (give me an internet source so I can hear it) and Amba Nilambari(CD 1, Track 37). As with the first exam, show that you know the meaning of the words by defining them in appropriate contexts.
You may use more than three terms (“lyric” and “music” do not count towards one of the terms.) Additionally, you may not use very obvious descriptions such as “both songs have pitch.” (We’re going to assume that music uses pitch unless it might be a John Cage piece.)
Grading: Brief answers will be marked down. Aim for a minimum of eight sentences, anything less is probably not thorough.
DON’T FORGET TO INCLUDE:
• Proper grammar and spelling is to be used in all exam essay answers.
• The name/artist and the YouTube link of your Western music example. Also supply the title shown on the YouTube video, which can often be different than the title/artist.
• The three elements/terms, put in CAPITALS so they’re easy for me to spot.
• One similarity and one difference.
