Persuasive Speech Assignment

Objective: The purpose of this speech is to persuade the audience to enact change.

Time: 7-9 minutes

Points: 80

Presentation and Visual aids (57 pts.): Students will deliver speeches from keyword note cards. The persuasive speech requires a substantial amount of research, so be sure to prepare your note cards with the proper definitions, statistics, and citations to adequately deliver your argument. A minimum of two visual aids PLUS an additional “call to action” visual aid are required for this speech.

Outline (18 pts.): A complete sentence outline and bibliography must be turned in the day you give your presentation. This outline must be typed and follow the Monroe’s Motivated Sequence format. The outline needs to be constructed using complete sentences and will be graded on clarity, development of ideas, grammar, and formatting (APA or MLA).

Audience Analysis (5 pts.): Needs to be typed in the provided final format and stapled to the back of your outline. You may use the data as one of your research sources within your speech.

Research: A minimum of six researched sources is required for this speech. Sources must be formatted in the outline, bibliography, and referenced within the speech.
