Discussion Topic 2 (DT2): In structured systems development, the data modeling process consists of
three of data models: Conceptual Data Model (CDM), Logical Data Model (LDM) and Physical Data Model
(PDM). Research and discuss the merits and applicability of each, how do they interrelate? Be sure to
address how/why each is important to the data modeling process; provide examples relevant in a
healthcare environment.

Discussion Topic 3 (DT3): Compare and contrast how you would organize a data modeling project for a
healthcare organization (provider, HIE, public health, etc.). Identify the issues/barriers you
anticipate–how would you mitigate/resolve? Be sure to discuss the role/function of a Health
Informatician throughout the process.
