1- In 300 – 500 words, explain the utility of alternative analysis for counterterrorism analysis. What is the difference between tactical and strategic warning? What is the role of intelligence analysis in strategic warning?
2- Write a 2 to 4 page (maximum 1,000 words) paper examining a What if? scenario. The future event should happen in the immediate future (within the next month) and should have a terrorist connection. The event itself does not have to be directly tied to terrorism, but should have an impact on terrorism issues. The analysis should only focus on the implications of the event for terrorism issues (particularly how the event affects the terrorist threat to U.S. interests) and should leave other issues alone. For example, the paper should begin with the question: What if X happened? The rest of the paper should be spent exploring the implications of X on terrorism.

The student can choose from the below examples or create their own. If the student has any questions about whether their topic is suitable, please check with the instructor before proceeding.
