Regional Critique for North America
Project description
Regional Critique for north america
Pick one of the formal regions from your textbook and write a critique of the way your book defines the region. What factors of the definition are appropriate for the region? What factors are inappropriate or don’t make sense? This will require a fair amount of research outside your book. Start by reading about the individual countries that are included in the region. Make sure you look at both physical and human geography. Think about the similarities and differences between countries. Also think about divisions within countries. Newspapers and travel guides might be good starting points for ideas on the cultural and physical geography as well as what is currently happening for each country.
Guidelines
Your paper should be about 4 pages as a minimum if you do a half decent job and can be as long as you want to make it. I don’t grade on length so using larger fonts and margins only wastes paper and won’t help your grade.
You must cite all sources appropriately. Use author-date in text citations (Last Name Year) with a full bibliography at the end. Any of the major citation formats is acceptable. If you are unfamiliar with those formats, here are some examples in the format I use:
Smythe-Jones, X. 1998. Copyediting: The authoritative tome. Cambridge, MA: Small Room Press
Smythe-Jones, X., L. Emmetson, and Q. Garraty. 1995. The art of copyediting: Nitpicking never
